Cole

This is Cole. He is 2 years old and is the friendliest little 2 year old I have ever met.  He is a chatterbox, has a wonderful imagination, loves sticks and stones and leaves, has the cutest little lispy voice, and lots of energy!

Last year, around this time, Cole was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukemia. A few days later, Cole’s parents found out they were pregnant. With twins. So it has been a long year for them.. the twins are here and 3 months old now. Cole is doing much much better. His hair has grown back and he will even be starting preschool this fall. He takes his chemotherapy medication everyday and gets spinal taps every week. That is a lot even for an adult. But this little guy takes it all in stride and is such an inspiration to everyone around him.

His parents, Emily and John, they are an inspiration to me and all their friends. I am honestly in awe of them. Even after a night of little sleep, they were game to take some family photos. While John stayed home with napping Henry, we went to the playground with baby Jacob. We made a quick stop for some snuggles with mama..

Then the swings… Jacob was more interested in chewing his fists.

And then Henry woke up and came over to the playground and got some see-saw action with his big brother.

We got everyone together for a family photo.. this one makes my heart skip a beat.

And one with just Cole..

Then Cole played a while longer, while his parents switched babies..

Life with twin babies and a two year old is, well, imperfectly perfect.

melody beth - After many years of wonderful words about Emily from our mutual friend Neely, I had the pleasure of meeting her and John at Neely’s wedding. Emily was a few months along with the twins. She and John were both beaming. They were a great joy to celebrate with. The two (or should I say four?) had to end their Texas trip right after the ceremony to rush home to Cole. Seeing them all happy, healthy and smiling brighter than ever really warms my heart. Your work is lovely! Thank you for capturing the beautiful deep love this family shares.
