So the other day, I came across this article on Facebook : 50 Reasons for Breastfeeding Anytime, Anywhere. I have to say, it ruffled my feathers a little bit. Why does this even have to be explained to anybody? Why is this even a cause for discussion? Are we in 2010 or 1965? It is so simple people, if you don’t like it (for whatever weird reason?), turn the other way.

Babies like sweet Aaron need to nurse.. not just for nutrition, but for comfort, for going to sleep, when they are in pain and when they feel out of sorts. Please don’t ever feel that you have the right to tell his mom, by your words or actions, that somehow this is not okay.

  • Stephanie - I totally agree! Having nursed my baby on the lid of a toilet seat in a stall 9 years ago, because I was afraid of offending someone, I’m so glad that with my other babies I learned to stand up for my baby’s right to eat anywhere that any other human can eat. Great post Rashmi!ReplyCancel

  • Erin J. - Boo ya, breast feeding haters! :-)ReplyCancel

  • Rachel Clarke - I totally agree as well! Unbelievable that this is even questioned!ReplyCancel

  • tisha - Love this post lady!!
I never got all the stink over it. By my second child I could nurse any where anytime and seldom was anyone around me even aware of it!ReplyCancel

  • Annie @ PhD in Parenting - Thank you for the link to my post and for sharing your beautiful pictures. :)ReplyCancel

  • Lana - Agreed! I never nursed my oldest in front of anyone (that I can remember). This one wouldn’t eat if I didn’t nurse in front of any and everyone! I’ve gotten over any inhibitions.ReplyCancel

  • Jennifer Sullivan - Aside from this being an amazing blog entry, Rashmi, thank you for the gorgeous pictures! And thank you for validating the rights of nursing mothers and stating what so many of us feel!! Well said….:)ReplyCancel
