We are celebrating the father of my children next Sunday.. but I wanted to yell out HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to my Daddy, who is thousands of miles away and hopefully enjoying a round of golf, followed by the US Open on the telly.
Thank you Dad for all the hard work and sacrifices you made when we were growing up, to give us a wonderful childhood.
I know these days a ‘good’ father is considered one who is always involved, at every school play, changing diapers, making school lunches and all that jazz. But you know what, I just want to give a huge shout out to all the dads who wake up, work a very long day, come home exhausted and eat dinner with their family. Their mere presence is a gift. Knowing they are there is a blessing. Knowing they would spend more time with us, if they could, is enough. Everything else is just bonus.
Great fathers are just a phone call away, even when their kids are 35 years old.
