April 18th, 2012 – Barbara and Thomas’ wedding.
When my friend and uber talented photographer, Jody McKitrick, asked me if I would second shoot a wedding with her, I said Yes. Neither of us had ever shot a wedding before, but the bride and groom had full faith in Jodes, as did I. I went along for support but I knew in my heart that she could really have done it by herself (don’t disagree with me Jody!). But I think I was there for a bigger reason, to witness the marriage of this beautiful, so very in love couple. You see, after 11 years of marriage, things start to get a little mundane and once in a while you need to be in the presence of real love, to remember why it is we embark on this journey called Family.
To be in that church, as they said their vows, I could literally feel the pure joy, the abundant love these two lovebirds have for each other. The way he snuggled into her neck, the way she looked at him, biting down on her lip. The way he wrapped her up in his arms, the way she fixed his bow-tie. Love was literally in the details. The lace her mother sewed onto her dress, the flowers that she put together, the cake, the delicious food.
They were so gracious to us. Clearly other wedding photographers do not have the clients we do, because our ‘vendor meal’ was a five course spread, all locally sourced and tastefully prepared by the chefs at the Ashby Inn. They toasted us, not once but twice. I was smiling ear to ear and in disbelief. Wednesday turned out to be a rainy day, which they say is lucky. They are lucky indeed, a thousand times over. Barbara and Thomas, I wish you nothing but happiness, today and forever.
Much love and gratitude,
xoxo, Rashmi
PS: It was hard to pick photos to put on the blog.. there were so many. And Jody got so many many more that I did not. So please bookmark her blog so you can see what she saw that day, when she posts her version. xo

Rashmi - Ha! I need to second shoot more weddings with Jody that are exactly this simple and elegant and beautiful with the loveliest couple. Likelihood of that happening not very high. Anyway, they say you should quit while you are ahead.. i can’t see any other wedding topping this one.. so first and last one for me!
