of elves and santas…

So funny… I started to write this post, sharing some of my favourite tree ornaments and the door bell rings. So I run downstairs, fumble with the key, open the door to see a basket of goodies at my door step. The postman is filling up the mail boxes so at first I assume he has delivered it… but surely you can’t put a basket of goodies in the mail.. with no To or From on it. Who can it be, this Cookie Elf?

Thank you Cookie Elf… I felt like I was 6 years old again! My daughter was so excited, “Mom, did you SEE him? What did he LOOK like?“.

Then the door bell rings again… is the elf back? No. Its the postman, with a package, from Santa Depot. Ooh. First I quiz the postman..The postman tells me it was a lady and a little girl.. but he didn’t get a good look.. just hear voices. Hmm. Cookie Elf.. who are you?

I open the package and there are ornaments! Special 2009 ornaments with my kids and my nephews names. Nothing  makes me happier than ornaments on the tree that actually MEAN something! Which was why  I had started this post…. I will cherish them forever.

And here is the ornament that started it all.. from my dear friend Cindy.. who gave it to us when we got our home. And you can sort of see the piggy on the left of the house.. in the pink dress..  my sweet friend Allison in Atlanta gave that to me two years ago. I love remembering the story behind each ornament as they go up on the tree. :)

This year I got my daughters these two ornaments…

All the ornaments make our tree so special to me… even getting the tree all the way from Middleburgh with my family was a wonderful outing!

And lastly, thank you for all the beautiful, gorgeous cards we have been receiving from friends and family. You can see them as soon as you step into our home and they bring a smile to my face every time… I will be sad to take them down in January!

Thank you Cookie Elf and Santa for making our day beautiful. We are staying home today because my little one is sick so this was a wonderful bright spot in our day.
