door

Nothing wise to say today. Strangely not working myself up into a frenzy about the holidays, holiday cards, holiday shopping or anything else. Instead of doing any of that, today I spent the morning with my 4 year old, setting up a vanity in her closet. At first I was thinking :

‘I should buy her that vanity that I have had my eye on for the last 3 years’.

And then I said to myself :

For $199? Yeah, she won’t care. All she wants is a spot to sit down, stare long hours into a mirror, brush her hair and put on her tiaras. Let me just add the mirror we got at IKEA, put some hooks on the wall for her necklaces and bracelets, and call it a day”.

She loves it. I love it. It is not some cheaply made piece of furniture made with some crappy wood that she will outgrow in 2 years, that we don’t have the space for. Everyone is happy.

As I get older, perhaps I am getting wiser. Or could it be lazier. Or calmer. Whatever. The holidays are not stressing me out, this year. Who knows, we might even have take out for Christmas dinner. Whee.

This beautiful door was next to the yoga space at the resort we were in. The yoga space overlooked the paddy fields. I could have sat there for hours just looking out and taking in the peace and quiet.

xoxo, Rashmi
